Plastic Surgeon Mr Paul Baker has joined Marina Plastic Surgery as the newest Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Offering advanced treatments in all areas of his field including; skin oncology, hand surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, body contouring procedures, scar revisions and burn reconstruction.
Mr Baker brings a wealth of overseas knowledge and experience to our community. Originally from Scotland and graduating from the University of Glasgow, his connection to New Zealand began in 2000 when he won a scholarship to the University of Otago. He has trained internationally, undertaking his specialist plastic surgery training at the UK’s world-renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit. He qualified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2012 at the Royal College of Surgeons in the UK and holds specialist registrations in both the UK and NZ.
Mr Baker has also completed fellowships over the ditch in Australia, focusing on microsurgery, hand surgery and burn reconstruction. He finally returned to NZ in 2017, working out of Auckland’s Middlemore Hospital where he consults today. He is a compassionate surgeon who focuses on helping his patients, mostly to get back their quality of life, and recently including survivors of the White Island tragedy.
Mr Baker has two young children and enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys the outdoors and is a running enthusiast, although he admits to spending more time running after his children than on the trails.
He is a member of the NZ Association of Plastic Surgeons, NZ Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Australian and NZ Burn Association.
